In December 2015 I had another  opportunity to stay a few days in the Thattekad area of Kerala, a wonderful piece of the Western Ghats, with its endemic birds and lusterous rain forests.

I arrived to Kochi after a short stop over in Bangalore and was picked up by my driver. He drove us directly to the Hornbill camp. A nice camp on the verge to the national park.

For almost three days, morning and evening we hunted for the birds. My list was filled fairly well although the illusive Wynaad Laughingthrush was not spotted. But other than that I got some really great birdwatching.

I strongly recommend anyone to go there, enjoy the lovely people and the still fairly protected forests. Unfortunately I saw some disturbing and worrying signs of human impact.
